- A Graduate Student, pursuing a PhD in Philosophy; by virtue of the province of the philosopher I work on, one Vasubandhu (trained in Kashmir), his time (5th century C.E), his affiliations (Buddhist), and language (Classical Sanskrit), my subject de facto falls under Philosophy of Religion. I work on the idea of a criterion of reality, pursuing this in Vasubandhu under the rubric of the constitution of material bodies: in other Indian philosophers under the rubric of the possibility of revising criteria for reality encoded as the grammar of our daily practices. Here Nagarjuna, Patanjali, Kumarilla, Bhartrhari and Jayarasi. I am Kashmiri, itinerant most of my life. My parents raised me on Kashmiri, English and German. I consider it important for the shape our contemporary praxis may take that we activate the rich tradition of asking and offering reasons preserved in philosophical Sanskrit. An ethos. Apart from being poor, my wife and I live a very happy, emotionally rich life. Our dog complains, but then she is too smart for her own good. She eats more often than we do.
